Some of my favorite writing resources.

We writers spend a lot of time alone. Yet, our work is the sum of inspiration and influence from others. Just read the "Acknowledgments" pages of any published book, prose or poetry, fiction or non fiction. See the important role played by other writers, editors, readers, instructors, mentors, friends and family in order for any author to succeed at their craft.

THe Burlington writer's workshop (BWW)

The Burlington Writer's Workshop is a non profit organization founded in Burlington, Vermont. I've been an active member since 2014, and have received invaluable feedback and encouragement for my writing. My tribe of fellow writers meets regularly in an historic downtown space. We also have multiple opportunities to share our work at public readings. Participation in BWW includes access to annual offsite writing retreats, led by published authors.

The truth is that a creative life requires great swathes of attention. Attention is a way to connect and survive.
— Julia Cameron, The Artist's Way

the artist's way

by Julie Cameron (Jeremy P. Tarcher/Perigee, 1992)

Working with a life coach in 2012, I identified "creativity"as something important and missing in my everyday life. When I googled the word, up popped The Artist's Way, A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity. Cameron's approach resonated with me, especially the profound impact of daily journal writing and the importance of "artist dates." My bookshelf holds six years of completed 12-week journals, thanks to a daily practice I find tremendously helpful.
